Kalium

Potassium is one of the electrolytes. It contributes significantly to maintaining the function of the nervous system, muscles and normal blood pressure.

As a so-called "cell mineral"it is most abundant here and regulates the excitability of nerve and muscle cells. In combination with sodium, it also enables the transport of the energy carrier glucose from the blood into the cells. The mineral potassium significantly increases glycolysis (breakdown of glucose), lipolysis (breakdown of fat) and tissue respiration (cellular respiration). As an electrolyte, it is essential for cell function and regulation of the human organism, as it is responsible for the fluid content in the cells and the acid-base balance.
