No anti-caking agents or binders, no artificial colors
Free from genetic engineering, nanoparticles, and animal testing
Hypoallergenic formulas (e.g., lactose- and gluten-free)
Ultra-pure, plant-based coating agent (HPMC)
Free from unwanted additives such as PEG, silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate, and many others
Premium raw materials derived from pure substances
Regular, independent testing for harmful substances
Production in accordance with German quality standards (GMP, HACCP, ISO 9001)
*A few products are special cases due to their composition or food processing requirements; in such cases, we naturally ensure transparent labeling, e.g., allergens (such as soy).
Did You Know?
The color, taste, or texture of our products may vary slightly from batch to batch—these are natural variations in plant-based ingredients.
Almost all of our products are vegetarian, and most of them are vegan.
Our multi-step quality assurance process includes the careful selection of high-quality raw materials, the choice of appropriate packaging, and regular inspections — from incoming goods inspections to batch-specific laboratory analyses.
All raw materials used are tested in batches for microbiological contamination and heavy metals. In addition, many of our products are also analyzed for pesticides and other relevant residues and contaminants.
Premium Brand-Name Raw Materials for Measurable Quality
We rely on certified, research-backed branded ingredients — to ensure consistently high quality and optimal effectiveness.
These ingredients are characterized by excellent bioavailability and are developed by experts. In many of our products, we use patented branded ingredients, such as:
Our Capsule Quality – Plant-Based Coating, Easy to Swallow
Our products come in capsule form for easy and convenient consumption. Furthermore, encapsulation provides excellent protection for the nutrients against oxidation. The quality and purity of our capsules are just as important to us as those of our ingredients.
Our plant-based HPMC capsules are exceptionally pure—free from carrageenan, PEG, gelatin, allergens, and genetic engineering. This makes us one of the few suppliers that completely avoid hidden additives in capsules.
Enteric-coated formulations, if needed
The capsules on many products can be opened
Smart Packaging – Optimal Protection for Your Product
Our containers are made of food-safe PET– airtightly sealed for maximum product protection. They are hygienic, shatterproof, and ideal for safely storing sensitive ingredients. For delicate raw materials, we also include silica gel packets to keep moisture out.
Another plus: The containers are also great for reuse around the house—for example, for storing spices, small items, or snacks.
Liquid Products Using Liposomal Technology
Packaging and Application of Liquid Products
All liquid containers are made of amber glass or brown plastic. The pharmaceutical-grade quality of the containers provides reliable protection against light exposure. Our dropper pipette, made of natural rubber, is free of synthetic polymers and plasticizers and ensures safe, precise dosing while maintaining consistent product quality. Our liquid products come in different configurations depending on the application:
Dropper pipettes
for flexible dosing, e.g., in liposomal products and fat-soluble vitamins.
Spray nozzles
for easy and even application in the mouth.
Oil products in glass bottles
for example, our Omega oil, which features a drip-proof spout for maximum stability and sustainability.
Plastic bottles
shatterproof and ideal for safe everyday use.
Liquid formulation
For our liquid products, we use carefully selected carriers such as MCT coconut oil, glycerin, and liposomal formulations — to ensure exceptional tolerability.
Our liposomal formulations with sunflower or rapeseed lecithin enable highly efficient nutrient absorption directly in the body — you can learn more about this in our FAQ
on the liposomal formulation.
Responsibility at All Levels
We are committed to a holistic approach to quality — from the recipe to our social interactions. This also includes acting in accordance with our values.

From the very beginning, NatuGena has used exceptionally pure, plant-based HPMC capsules in the majority of its products. HPMC stands for hydroxypropyl methylcellulose and is made from plant-based cellulose.
Unlike many HPMC capsules commonly available on the market, the coating agents we use contain no carrageenan or PEG. Although they are more expensive, they meet our high standards for a carefully selected and transparent product composition.
Our plant-based HPMC capsules are:
- 100% plant-based cellulose (HPMC)
- Carrageenan-free
- PEG-free
- Gelatin-free
- GMO-free
- Free of allergens and irritants
What types of capsule shells are used in omega-3 products?
Special softgels are required for liquid oils. Our classic omega-3 capsules therefore contain a coating made from gelatin and glycerin and are not vegan.
In our vegan omega-3 capsules made from algae oil, the coating consists of glycerin and modified cornstarch and contains no gelatin. This makes these capsules suitable for a vegan diet.
The exact composition of each coating agent is clearly listed in the ingredients list.
It All Comes Down to the Composition
Conventional capsule shells may contain technical additives—such as anti-caking agents, release agents, or binders—due to the manufacturing process. These components aren’t always immediately apparent, as certain processing aids aren’t required to be listed in the ingredients list.
Most of our capsules can be opened without any concerns. The contents can be stirred into yogurt, plant-based yogurt, applesauce, smoothies, or juice, for example.
One of the reasons we encapsulate the ingredients is to keep their sometimes intense natural taste and smell as neutral as possible. When opened, the taste and smell may therefore be more noticeable.
Did you know? Our capsules can be easily opened by gently twisting them.
Please do not open: enteric-coated capsules
For certain bacterial and enzyme products, we use enteric-coated capsules. These should not be opened, as doing so may alter the intended release profile.
These include, for example:
- Bacterial preparations, such as HistaBakt, MakroAktiv, and BactoGena 21+2
- Enzyme products, such as N-Zymarase® Intest and N-Zymarase® Inflam. Exception: N-Zymarase Komplex contains betaine HCl, which is intended to take effect in the stomach; therefore, it does not have an enteric-coated capsule shell and can be opened
- Soft capsules with liquid contents, such as omega-3 capsules, are also not intended to be opened. In this case, you can switch to the liquid oil instead.

At NatuGena, we are constantly exploring sustainable and eco-friendly processes. Our goal is to balance environmental responsibility with the highest product quality. In doing so, we do everything we can to minimize our environmental impact.
For our dry products, we deliberately use food-grade PET instead of glass bottles. This material has several advantages:
- It is more durable and significantly lighter than glass, making both transport and shipping more environmentally friendly and safer.
- Additionally, there is no risk of breakage, which virtually eliminates the possibility of damage during transport.
- Our cans are made of BPA-free material that is specifically approved for food contact.
Our PET packaging meets all applicable European requirements for materials intended to come into contact with food. Compliance is ensured in accordance with the following regulations, among others:
- Regulation (EC) No. 1935/2004
- Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 (REACH)
- Regulation (EU) No. 10/2011, including the amendments made by Regulations (EU) 2020/1245 and (EU) 2023/1442
- Regulation (EC) No. 2023/2006 (Good Manufacturing Practice)
Extensive migration tests are conducted in accordance with these legal requirements. During these tests, packaging is evaluated under demanding test conditions, such as elevated temperatures and exposure to various solvents. These tests simulate contact with different types of food and also account for adverse storage conditions.
This ensures that no substances posing a health risk migrate from the packaging into the product and that all legally established migration limits are met. Our packaging is therefore suitable for food storage and does not compromise product safety.
The majority of our liquid products are filled in food-safe amber glass bottles to ensure the best possible protection of the ingredients.
At the same time, we are continuously exploring new, more environmentally friendly packaging solutions and are open to suggestions and innovative ideas.
Our Commitment to the Environment
Sustainability is an ongoing process. That is why we are constantly refining our initiatives and investing in sustainable infrastructure:
- Our corporate headquarters was built to modern energy standards and utilizes an energy-efficient ventilation system.
- Our warehouse is climate-neutral and is powered by electricity from our own photovoltaic system.
- Through our in-house cardboard recycling facility, used packaging is shredded and directly reused as eco-friendly filler material.
Sustainability in our product range
We are constantly expanding our product range to include organic-quality products and are increasingly focusing on certified organic ingredients. In addition, the majority of our product range is vegan.
No. We do not conduct or commission any animal testing for our NatuGena dietary supplements.
Our products are developed and manufactured according to high quality standards. We focus on product safety, carefully selected raw materials, and tested manufacturing processes. The raw materials and formulations used are evaluated and processed in accordance with applicable food safety regulations.
As a manufacturer of dietary supplements, we place great emphasis on responsibility, transparency, and quality—animal testing is not part of our corporate philosophy.
Since we use natural ingredients, our products are similar to the fruits and vegetables you find at the supermarket. The taste, smell, color, and texture may vary from batch to batch. Minor variations in net weight of ± 3 g per package size are normal in our production processes.
Many ingredients come from natural plant sources; this results in variations due to differences in the harvests of the substances contained.
We work with the independent laboratory AgroLab, which we commission to perform microbiological and heavy metal tests.
In our microbiological testing, we measure the aerobic mesophilic plate count (total plate count), as well as the levels of Escherichia coli (E. coli), yeasts, Salmonella, molds, and staphylococci.
For heavy metals, we test for arsenic, lead, cadmium, and mercury in accordance with the limit values specified in Regulation (EU) 2023/915.
Our products are manufactured in Germany. The raw materials come from all over the world. Our manufacturing partners operate in accordance with recognized quality standards such as GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice), ISO 22000 (Food Safety Management), and ISO 9001 (Quality Management).
No need to worry: At NatuGena, the quality and safety of our products always come first. That’s why our supplements are carefully tested and subjected to stability testing.
This allows us to ensure that our dietary supplements can reliably withstand temperature fluctuations during transport in the summer. Product quality and shelf life are maintained during short-term shipping on warm days.
Our tip: Once your product arrives, store it at normal room temperature in a dry place away from direct light. This helps keep the valuable ingredients optimally protected and ensures that the product is ready for your daily use.
