Cardiovascular diseases are widespread and cause high mortality rates in our civilized regions. A "heart-healthy" lifestyle includes a plant-based diet with plenty of olive oil, but also fish (omega-3 fatty acids) and avoiding easily available carbohydrates as far as possible. Maintaining a normal weight and sufficient exercise are also important in both primary and secondary prevention. Selected, standardized plant extracts can also make a valuable contribution to maintaining healthy blood vessels.
