FAQ
It is a saliva test. You will receive a tube that already contains a liquid. The test kit includes instructions with detailed information on how to collect the sample. Before the analysis can be carried out, you must register your test kit online.
It’s that easy:
- Order the yourEPI DNA test kit from the NatuGena online shop.
- Register your test kit after receiving it.
- Collect a saliva sample.
- Send in the sample.
- Receive your personalized DNA analysis report with more than 500 measured SNPs covering the areas of nutrition, lifestyle, hormones, detoxification, and athletic performance.
You will gain insight into your individual genetic profile in relation to exercise, lifestyle factors (metabolism, sleep type), predisposition to intolerances, APOE status, hormone balance, liver enzymes (CYP enzymes), and nutrient requirements. Based on these insights, you can make preventive lifestyle choices. The test does not measure your current values but rather your genetic predispositions. The test therefore only needs to be performed once; your results are valid for life.
As we are not familiar with your country’s shipping regulations (e.g. customs clearance may be required for Switzerland), we unfortunately cannot recommend a specific return shipping method or assume liability for the return shipment. If possible, please choose a shipping method that corresponds to the German “Einwurf-Einschreiben” (registered mail with delivery confirmation).
Please contact us regarding this before purchasing the test. It is no longer possible to change the language from German to English after purchase. You can receive your results in only one language.
Once we have received your saliva sample, the analysis takes 6–8 weeks.
Yes, you will be notified by email.
Our epigenetics expert Thorsten Schmitt will personally take care of your analysis. You will receive recommendations for prevention on all levels, particularly regarding nutrition, sports & exercise, and micronutrient supply.

No, generally not. The methyl groups contained in HPMC capsules are chemically bound and are not bioavailable, meaning they are not available to the body for methylation processes.
However, anyone who tends toward overmethylation should be particularly cautious with vitamin B12 (methylcobalamin) and vitamin B9 (5-methyltetrahydrofolate, MTHF). These active methyl forms can directly affect methylation status.
Conclusion: HPMC capsules are generally considered safe, even in cases of overmethylation. What matters is the form and dosage of methyl-active vitamins in the product, not the coating agent.
Although HPU is considered to be a metabolic disorder with a predominantly genetic predisposition, it currently cannot be clearly identified through “a single HPU gene” or a standard genetic test. A conventional SNP/DNA test can only reveal genetic variants in detoxification, methylation, or stress-response genes that may increase susceptibility to HPU-like issues – the diagnosis itself is still based on the specific HPU urine test and the clinical symptoms.
A self-test (if you are not yet undergoing treatment or have not been diagnosed) may provide some initial indications: https://natugena.de/hpu-test.aspx
