Hericium erinaceus is also known as lion’s mane, bearded tooth mushroom or monkey head mushroom. Among mushrooms it stands out through its striking appearance: its fruiting body resembles coral or a shaggy mane, which is why it is also nicknamed “pom-pom mushroom”.
In Asia, lion’s mane has been appreciated for centuries as both a culinary delicacy and a traditional ingredient. It is also known among North American indigenous peoples.
The mushroom prefers to grow on weakened or dead deciduous trees such as beech or oak and is now cultivated worldwide, both for its fine flavour and its natural content of valuable polysaccharides, in particular beta-glucans.

The Hericium used originates from controlled cultivation. After harvesting, it is carefully dried and cleaned before being processed into powder and extract.
Hericium Aktiv combines both forms: the classic mushroom powder and a concentrated 30:1 extract. While the powder contains the entire natural matrix of the mushroom – with all its secondary plant compounds, fibres and micronutrients – the extract provides a targeted high concentration of polysaccharides, especially beta-1,3- and beta-1,6-D-glucans.

Frankincense is one of the oldest and most traditional natural substances. Thousands of years ago, the aromatic resin of the Boswellia tree was used in rituals and ceremonies as a symbol of purification, calm and balance. Beyond its scent, people quickly learned to value the plant substance itself.
The resin of Boswellia serrata, which is used in this formula, is particularly rich in natural constituents: in addition to essential oils, it also contains polysaccharides and the characteristic boswellic acids. The frankincense we use is derived from Boswellia serrata and standardised to 95% boswellic acids.
The formula also includes lecithin from rapeseed, which naturally provides phospholipids to the product.

We work with the independent laboratory AgroLab, which we commission to perform microbiological and heavy metal tests.
In our microbiological testing, we measure the aerobic mesophilic plate count (total plate count), as well as the levels of Escherichia coli (E. coli), yeasts, Salmonella, molds, and staphylococci.
For heavy metals, we test for arsenic, lead, cadmium, and mercury in accordance with the limit values specified in Regulation (EU) 2023/915.
