Folic acid is also known as Vitamin B9 and, as an elementary component of many metabolic processes, is an important micronutrient for the body. The NatuGena folic acid composition is bioactive as methyltetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF) and is based on the patented Quatrefolic®-Formula.


By improving the water solubility of 5-methyltetrahydrofolate Quatrefolic® is defined as water soluble, presenting an significant potential to improve bioavailability, while the calcium salt version is defined as poorly soluble.
By choosing glucosamine as a naturally occurring compound in the body, a safe and stable high quality profile is ensured. As a result there are no conversion losses.
 
Our folic acid consists of methyltetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF) and is effectively absorbed by the body under the tongue as a sublingual tablet.The bioactive form is a decisive quality feature, since most folic acid formulas are of synthetic origin and must first be converted into 5-MTHF in the organism.
Some people, especially individuals of advanced age, are no longer able to adequately convert the synthetic folic acid into the bioactive form due to specific enzyme deficiencies. In those cases, taking bioactive folic acid is particularly beneficial


Folic acid metabolism process in detail
As mentioned, synthetic folic acid must first be converted by the body into the active form 5-MTHF. This happens with the help of the enzyme dihydrofolic acid reductase. The intermediate product dihydrofolic acid (DHFR) is converted into tetrahydrofolic acid. The enzyme dihydrofolic acid reductase is encoded by the so-called gene DHFR. Mutation in this gene sequence can lead to a deficit in the “folic acid enzyme”.

  •     contributes to a normal homocysteine metabolism
  •     contributes to a normal function of the immune system
  •     contributes to decreased fatigue and tiredness
  •     has a function in cell division

 

Suggested Use

1 tablet once per day. Consumption at least 15 minutes before a meal with 250 ml of non-carbonated, lukewarm water is optimal.
