What role does the NRF2 signalling pathway play in the body?
Our bodies are challenged every day. Metabolic processes run continuously, cells work, renew themselves and constantly adapt to new situations. In the process, so-called free radicals are naturally formed. However, free radicals are not inherently harmful to the body. They are part of normal cellular activity. What matters is balance, as both their formation and their regulation are firmly anchored in physiological processes. When this balance is disrupted, the condition is referred to as oxidative stress.

To detect such changes, the body relies on finely tuned regulatory mechanisms. One of these is the so-called KEAP1-NRF2 signalling pathway. It functions like an internal sensor, detecting changes in cellular conditions, for example due to external influences or metabolic processes.
When such a state is recognised, the protein NRF2 changes its position within the cell and influences specific intracellular processes. These mechanisms are part of the body’s natural regulation of the cellular environment and help the organism adapt to different situations. The NRF2 signalling pathway is therefore part of the body’s intrinsic regulatory system and not an isolated switch, but rather integrated into a complex network of cellular processes.
Which plant compounds are included?
Numerous phytonutrients such as sulforaphane, quercetin or resveratrol are found in everyday foods – from broccoli to tea, pomegranate or onions. The included plant extracts are carefully selected and standardised. Broccoli provides sulforaphane, a secondary plant compound that the plant itself produces as a natural defence substance and which has been extensively studied in scientific research. Turmeric provides curcuminoids, milk thistle adds silymarin. Quercetin comes from the Japanese pagoda tree, trans-resveratrol from Japanese knotweed. The formulation is complemented by Griffonia simplicifolia, pomegranate extract and piperine, a compound from black pepper that is well known as a component of various spices.
