Gravida is the Latin name for pregnant women. In gynaecology, some herbs are known to have a positive supporting effect on the female hormone balance in preparation for pregnancy. Prof. Dr. Döll has put together selected plant extracts, vitamins and minerals and adjusted the amounts to a holistic formula based on scientific studies.
Monk's pepper (Vitex agnus-castus) is used in medicine as a herbal remedy to treat menstrual cramps. The components from the fruits of the monk's pepper act in a similar way to the body's own messenger substance, dopamine. A sufficient amount of dopamine is important for ovulation to occur.
Women's mantle (Alchemilla vulgaris) is found in Europe, North America and Asia. Lady's mantle is particularly valued because it contains substances that are very similar to the hormone progesterone. Lady's mantle was already used in the days of Saint Hildegard von Bingen to treat women's ailments. The roundish leaves consist of seven to eleven lobes and are serrated to toothed at the edges. The leaves contain six to eight percent tannins. These are mainly of the so-called ellagitannin type, with agrimoniin as the main component. In addition, there are about two percent flavonoids.
Maca is a root from the Andes, known for its vitalising and energising effect. Maca powder contains 14% protein and is rich in omega-3 fatty acids. The high content of antioxidants, such as selenium, prevents oxidative stress, protects the body from free radicals.
Folic acid (vitamin B9) contributes to the growth of maternal tissue during pregnancy. The GravidaPro preparation in the Femme Nutrition range contains 600 µg of folic acid in the already bioactive form (methyltetrahydrofolate, 5-MTHF), which is easily absorbed in the body as it no longer needs to be converted. In addition, folate normalises the function of the immune system and has a function in cell division. A balanced folic acid level is already important as preparation for pregnancy.
The other B vitamins support normal function of the nervous system and are contained in their bioactive form.
In GravidaPro there are 150 µg of iodine per daily dose.
Pregnant women need more iron, which is essential for the formation of red blood cells to provide adequate oxygen to the mother and baby. The iron in GravidaPro comes from a plant source, curry leaf, which is best taken with meals. If there is an increased need for iron, the amount taken can be increased by adding the product NatuGena Iron Vegan, here too the iron comes from the curry leaf. The bioavailability of the vegan iron can be increased by taking omega-3 fatty acids.
The extracts of saffron, raspberry leaf, fennel and fenugreek extract are added to the formula in small doses so that their positive effects support the female body.

Note: The scientifically based composition selected by Prof. Dr. Döll is not intended for permanent use during pregnancy - GravidaPro is about increasing fertility before pregnancy occurs. We therefore recommend also and especially for the time of pregnancy and breastfeeding to cover the increased nutrient requirement with the product NatuGena Mamafit to supplement at least 10 mg iron, 600 µg folic acid and 150 µg iodine. In addition, NatuGena Lipovitamins are suitable for healthy vitamin D levels and Norsan Omega 3 for providing the fatty acids DHA and EPA - as combined in the MamaBox advantage set.
