What is HPU?
HPU stands for haemopyrrollactamuria – a metabolic disorder that may be associated with increased loss of specific micronutrients. As a result, the body loses more essential micronutrients, so the increased demand often cannot be covered by a normal diet alone. Helpful therapeutic approaches may include gut restoration, dietary changes and supportive supplementation of the affected micronutrients.
How is the micronutrient formula composed?
The included micronutrients fulfil a wide range of physiological functions: Zinc, selenium and vitamin C contribute to the normal function of the immune system. Magnesium, manganese as well as B vitamins B1, B2, B6, B12 and folate support normal energy metabolism. Choline contributes to the maintenance of normal liver function and to normal fat and homocysteine metabolism. Biotin and chromium also contribute to normal macronutrient metabolism. Folate and vitamin B12 additionally contribute to normal homocysteine metabolism and usefully complement the formula.
Special focus is placed on the form of the micronutrients: The use of activated vitamin forms and organically bound minerals in chelated form specifically optimises bioavailability. This means the body can absorb the nutrients particularly well and use them where they are needed. The formulation was developed in close collaboration with Dr Ostermann.
MagChel®
MagChel® is based on organic mineral compounds such as bisglycinates, which are known for particularly good tolerability and neutral absorption behaviour. In NatuGena HPU, MagChel® is used in the form of manganese bisglycinate. The included micronutrients perform a wide range of functions in the human body. Choline contributes to normal fat metabolism and to the maintenance of normal liver function. Thiamine, vitamin B6, folate and vitamin B12 support normal homocysteine metabolism. Biotin and chromium contribute to normal macronutrient metabolism. Magnesium, manganese as well as vitamins B6 and C contribute to normal energy metabolism. Zinc and vitamin C further support the normal function of the immune system.
