Opti Liver is a unique complex blend to support biotransformation, in which metabolic end products are eliminated after being detached from tissues and then bound. The core ingredients of the formula are R-alpha lipoic acid, NAC and glycine. It also contains liver-supporting substances such as MSM, sylimarin from milk thistle and cynarin from artichoke. The Kalmegh extract known from Ayurvedic medicine rounds off the formulation.
Alpha lipoic acid, also known as thioctic acid, is a sulphur-containing fatty acid. It is found as a coenzyme in the mitochondria of many living organisms and plays an important role in energy metabolism. Alpha lipoic acid buffers free radicals and is a strong antioxidant. The R-alpha lipoic acid used here corresponds to the natural form of lipoic acid as it is also found in the human body.
L-cysteine is a sulphur-containing, non-essential amino acid. N-acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC) is the acetylated, generally better tolerated, form of L-cysteine. Cysteine stimulates the production of proteins, glutathione and taurine.
Glycine is involved in the synthesis of glutathione and collagen. Glutathione is produced in high concentrations in the liver.
MSM is an organic sulphur compound. The substance is actually a natural component of our food, as it is found in vegetables, meat or eggs, for example. However, this MSM content is often not sufficient to cover our needs, as nowadays there is only little MSM in the food and this proportion is often destroyed when preparing the food (e.g. cooking meat or vegetables).
In addition to these amino and fatty acids, Opti Liver contains selected extracts from special plants such as milk thistle, artichoke, wild garlic and calamari.
Mary thistle provides flavonoids, bitter compounds, amino acids, mucilages, and sterols, it is popular in naturopathy as it protects not only the liver but also the stomach lining.
Kalmegh (Andrographis paniculata) is a plant that has long been valued in traditional Indian medicine for its medicinal properties. The plant belongs to the acanthus family. The extract is obtained from the leaves and roots of the Kalmegh plant. Kalmegh extract contains a number of bioactive compounds, with andrographolide, considered the main active ingredient. It also contains other valuable compounds such as diterpenes, flavonoids and xanthones.
